Although Unitarian Universalism doesn’t have a shared creed, we do share a covenant which is a statement of the Values we have agreed to act on together.
Each year in our Religious Education classes, we begin by exploring the idea of covenant together and creating one for our class by figuring out what should be in it and agreeing to it together. It is now a ‘living’ document that records our agreements with each other on how we will be when we are together. “Living’ means that the work of building our covenant is ongoing and always open to edits and additions.
Doing this helps us understand our own church’s covenant, and the Covenant between UU churches, located in Article II of the Unitarian Universalist Association’s bylaws. The values listed there, and shown in the flower image, are:

- Interdependence
- Equity
- Transformation
- Pluralism
- Generosity
- Justice
