Several support groups use First Unitarian’s facilities to host meetings. All groups listed below are open and welcome new participants.
Al-Anon, Sundays, 5:00-6:00 pm, Wesson room
Al-Anon is a mutual support group of peers who share their experience in applying the Al-Anon principles to problems related to the effects of a problem drinker in their lives.
Friday Night Freedom (Debtors’ Anonymous), Fridays, 5:30-6:30 pm, Arnold Room
Debtors Anonymous offers hope for people whose use of unsecured debt causes problems and suffering in their lives and the lives of others. In DA, our purpose is threefold: to stop incurring unsecured debt, to share our experience with the newcomer, and to reach out to other debtors. Debtors Anonymous is a non-profit organization based on the Twelve-Step principles of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Overeaters Anonymous, Mondays 12:00-1:30 pm, Arnold Room
Overeaters Anonymous is a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. Our primary purpose is to abstain from compulsive eating and to carry the message of recovery through the Twelve Steps of OA to those who still suffer.
SMART Recovery, Mondays, 7:00-9:00 pm, La Amikoj Room and Saturdays, 5:30-6:30 pm, Arnold Room
SMART Recovery participants learn tools for addiction recovery based on the latest scientific research.
We welcome people dealing with all types of addiction and addictive behaviors, including: drug abuse, drug addiction, substance abuse, alcohol abuse, gambling addiction, cocaine addiction, prescription drug abuse, sexual addiction, and problem addiction to other substances and activities.
