Director of Finance
30 hours a week, salaried, $45,000 annually.

First Unitarian seeks an experienced leader with expertise in non-profit finance. In collaboration with the ministers, the DF aligns the Financial functions to support the ministries of the church. The DF ensures the financial affairs of the church are conducted in an efficient, businesslike manner, according to the mission and policies of the church. In addition, the DF is the lead communicator on church finances to the Staff, Board and Congregation. They will also provide supervision to staff that establishes expectations, supports growth and learning, and creates a positive work environment.

Qualifications include specific expertise in non-profit finance, including financial planning. Bachelor’s Degree with relevant coursework, and at least three years of experience in the following areas (non-degree candidates with equivalent on the job training and experience will also be considered):

  • Managing business and fiscal affairs
  • Managing and supervising personnel

Some remote work is possible depending on the needs of the church.

Technical Arts Director
15 hours a week, $20/hour

Job Summary: The Technical Arts Director oversees the sanctuary and social hall A/V system
and technical volunteers, ensuring high quality audio and video support for live music in our in-person worship as well as for our livestream on zoom.

This includes some co-creation and editing sound and video files, and creative collaboration with the ministers and music director to produce high quality worship and ritual experiences. Worship services are each Sunday at 9 am and 11am. Occasional other services, such as
memorial services and special holiday services or rituals, round out our church’s offerings.

Education and/or experience in theater, television, and/or digital media preferred. Church experience (inside or outside First Unitarian) a plus.

Church Pianist

First Unitarian Church is seeking a pianist to provide music for worship services, accompany the choir, work with guest musicians as needed. Qualifications include ability to play fluently in a wide range of styles: classical, contemporary styles, New Mexican popular idioms. Excellent sight-reading and improvisation skills, ability to play from charts, commitment to collaborative musicianship.

This job (with practice and rehearsal time) takes about 30 hours a month and includes Sunday mornings 8:45-12:00 (except first Sundays), and all Thursday evenings, mid-August through May, 6:30-8:00 pm.
