Interim Minister Search – We Have a Match!

Great news! We have been matched with a highly qualified Interim Minister, The Rev. Stacey Mitchell, who will start at First Unitarian on August 1st! Relatively new to ministry, Rev. Stacey was ordained in 2023 after completing her Masters of Divinity at Union Theological Seminary in New York in 2021, along with an Eco-Chaplain Certification from Sati Buddhist Center. Rev. Stacey comes to us with experience in several fellowships of various sizes, including an internship ministry at First Unitarian of Portland, one of the largest UU congregations in the nation, and at the Community Church UU of New Orleans as the de-facto Interim Minister. She most recently served as a Contract Minister doing interim work at the UU Society of Oneonta in upstate New York, and has been formally trained in interim ministry work by the UUA.

Rev. Stacey is a Buddhist who has extensive experience in meditation work. She is ready to bring that kind of calm and centeredness to our community in this time of healing and transition. She came to ministry with over 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and financial management, which will also benefit our church as we move toward a more sustainable long-term approach to our congregational resources. The Board of Directors’ Interim Minister Search Task Force feels that we have a match very well-suited to the work ahead, with a minister who will be a good fit with UUABQ’s culture. Rev. Stacey will be guiding us along—and holding us accountable—in moving forward with the overall mission of First U, and putting in the hard work it takes to prepare for, call, and support our next Senior Minister. Please join us in making Rev. Stacey feel welcome and at home as she arrives in Albuquerque for the two years of important and meaningful work we will do together.
