Our Endowment Fund
First Unitarian’s Endowment Fund allows you to give a gift that will keep on giving.
Our endowment fund is a collection of donations from church members designed to last forever.
Well Managed
The Unitarian Universalist Association professionally manages our Endowment Fund so that it produces income to help meet the church’s needs, now and in the future. The assets are invested in socially responsible financial instruments.
Enduring
You have cared about First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque during your lifetime. Your gift to our Endowment Fund will help ensure that future generations will enjoy the same liberal religious environment right here in Albuquerque that has been so important to you.
Your Legacy
In addition to your annual pledge, you can make a meaningful contribution by including First Unitarian in your estate plans. Everyone can do this, regardless of your age, or the size of your gift.
The most common method is the bequest. Making a bequest is simple. Simply name First Unitarian in your will, with the gift you wish.
Types of Gifts
First Unitarian’s Endowment is prepared to accept gifts in various forms. Some examples include:
- Cash
- Stocks
- Insurance Policies
- Real Estate
- Mineral Rights
- Oil or Gas Leases
- Retirement Plans
- Securities
- Promised Designated Annuities
For most of us, the easiest and best way to give to the endowment is by naming the church as one of the beneficiaries in any traditional retirement (e.g., an IRA, 401K or 403b) account you hold. This will save your other beneficiaries from paying income taxes on them. Other accounts and equities, like stocks, bonds, and other retirement account balances are great and also easy to set up. Please contact the church if you wish to name any of these gifts or other types of gifts in your estate plan to be sure that we can accept it.

Telling First Unitarian Church of your plans for any legacy giving is helpful. Our church can make better plans when it understands what the future will bring. Please share your estate-giving intentions through completing a gift intention form. If you need a form, or help filling it out, a member of the Endowment Committee is happy to serve you.
