2024 Change for the Future Recipients


The Change for the Future program takes designated funds collected from our Sunday Offerings and distributes them to four different nonprofit groups each year, each awardee for three months during the year. The following organizations received the most votes at our Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, January 28, 2024.

1st Quarter: March-May 2024
United Voices for Newcomer Rights (UVNR) will use funding to support UVNR’s Migrant Assistance Program, and the onward travel of migrants to reunite with their families and sponsor in other parts of the United States. Albuquerque is often just a rest stop for migrants, over 90% of the migrants UVNR has served have been attempting to travel to other places to reconnect with family members and friends.

2nd Quarter: June-August 2024

APS Title I Homeless McKinney- Vento Program will fund the purchase of non-perishable foods, and hygiene items for bags distributed directly to Albuquerque students who we have identified as homeless under the McKinney-Vento Act, federally protecting the rights of homeless students. This includes 400 unaccompanied minors with no adult in their lives outside of school.

3rd Quarter: September-November 2024

Locker #505: Students’ Clothing Bank willutilize funding to purchase tennis shoes for students in need from kindergarten through grade 12 throughout the Greater Albuquerque Metro Area. New shoes are important to the students’ physical and mental health.

4th Quarter: December 2024-February 2025

New Mexico Immigrant Law Center (NMILC) this funding will make a considerable impact on the success of NMILC’s Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) Program and Clinics by covering some of the costs of staffing, Pro Bono recruitment and training, childcare, and food.
