A Message from Chris Paul

It has been my pleasure and honor to be the Technical Arts Director for First Unitarian over the past 2 years. It’s been a wild ride! The COVID pandemic forced us to learn how to do virtual worship services whether we were ready or not. I have been extremely fortunate to have the guidance and support of Angela, Susan and most of all Bob who already had experience with these kinds of services.

We learned how to use Zoom and other technologies to keep our worship services going during those dark times. There were learning experiences but eventually we found ways to do real worship and make connection through our screens. Even after we resumed live  services we kept the virtual services going as well, spreading our big tent to include people who are not yet  comfortable returning to live services, people who are physically unable to attend, and even people who no longer live in New Mexico!

During this time, I have been working a total of 5 part time jobs trying to make ends meet. I am happy to report that I will be starting a new full-time job as the Cable TV Producer/Director for Bernalillo County starting September 12. While this is a great relief for me it means that after that time I will no longer be able to be your Tech Arts Director. I will remain a member of the church, play with Spare Parts and sometimes help with church tech. A search has already begun to find my replacement- I wish them well.

I am inspired by how many members of our congregation give their time, skills and effort to work as a team to support and help create our virtual services. I am so proud of them! Please continue to support them, our staff and our ministers as we continue to grow in new, often unexpected directions.

Best wishes always,

Chris Paul
