WEDDINGS AND MEMORIALS

We, the members of the First Unitarian, agree to . . .
minister to each other in an atmosphere of welcome, acceptance, and caring

Weddings, Memorials, and Other Special Services

Our buildings at our Albuquerque location and professional staff are available for weddings, memorial and funeral services, child dedications, and other special services for both members of the congregation and the wider community.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to be a Unitarian Universalist or member of First Unitarian to be married or have a memorial service at First Unitarian?

We're honored to share our building with families hosting weddings and memorial services. Call the office to ask about the availability of space and the fees.

Q: May we use our own minister or other officiant for a service at First Unitarian?

Yes, you may rent our facilities for your function without also using the services of our ministers.

Q: Will your ministers perform same-sex weddings?

We are a welcoming congregation and are pleased to assist all couples in their public vows of love for each other. While same-gender marriage is not legally recognized in the state of New Mexico, our ministers will perform services of union in recognition of the couple's commitment to each other.

Q: Will your ministers do services in places other than your building?

What is important to us is that your service reflects your values and sense of style. Our only concern is that the focus of the event be the spiritual importance of the ritual. So talk to the minister doing your service about your ideas.
