Mediation is a voluntary and confidential way for people to meet, discuss their concerns, and make decisions together, with the assistance of an impartial mediator. As a professional mediator, I do not advise, decide, or direct outcomes; I assist and support people in conflict as they work toward their own resolution. I have been a certified mediator since 1991.

Published author. I'm Kathy Fraser, and the novel I've written has just been released. This novel is my creative response to the Iraq War and the 2004 election, and it is "dedicated to the great powers of healing that are called by many names," written out of my concern for those directly impacted by war. My background is as a psychiatrist, but I have written this as much from my perspective as a person of faith and UU since 1994. I have a few book signings set up:

Music teacher. My name is Carol Benson, and I have openings for new violin students this fall; I teach all ages. I have taught at the University of N. Iowa, University of Louisville Prep Dept., a branch of the University of Kentucky, and in Sweden, as well as at various music schools and public schools. I was a member of the Swedish Radio Orchestra, Drottingholm Opera, Pittsburgh Chamber Orchestra, Greenspring Coffeehouse Band, and Musical Theatre Southwest, among other groups, and was invited to tour Europe with the Detroit Symphony and tour America with the Stockholm Philharmonic. While in Sweden, my family got involved in the folk music and gathered a treasure of tunes.

FOLLOW YOUR BLISS!  MEET YOUR GOAL!  Increase your fiddle repertoire with an experienced Irish fiddler and symphony teacher who lived and played in Sweden, collecting their best tunes. Learn four or more Celtic and Swedish tunes by rote, with class input and technical tips, if desired.

Six Tuesday nights, 7:00 - 8:30, beginning Feb 16

*This class is not intended for complete beginners; rather, it's a crash course for adults who can play a few tunes already.

Musician. My name is Carol Benson, and I would like to serenade you at your next birthday, anniversary, graduation, or retirement party at the cafe that you propose! I'm also happy to sing or play favorite hymns for memorials, or surprise someone with a singing telegram. I have been a cafe fiddler since 1990, in between orchestra rehearsals, appearing at the Pet, Club, and Artichoke, at local hotels, country clubs, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, and for the Gas Balloon Awards, Martin Heinrich events, and the Environmental Law Center annual banquets, as well as at many senior facilities. My repertoire includes Spanish ballads, Irish, Swedish, and American country fiddling, classic pop, and classical music.

Experienced tutor/editor. I'm Holley Daschbach, MEd, a tutor, editor, and study coach. I have ten years of classroom experience, and have worked with students from elementary through graduate school. My areas of specialty are language arts, reading and writing, and study skills, although I am comfortable working with a variety of subjects depending on curriculum level. I have worked as a freelance editor/thesis doctor as well. Compassion, creativity, and patience are keys to making learning fun and successful. I do this because I love it; my rates are reasonable.
