Building Your Own Theology - February 10, 2013

One of the benefits of being Unitarian Universalists is that we are not discouraged from discovering our own spiritual paths. In 2012, member Angela Merkert, a graduate of Harvard Divinity School, offered, through the Adult RE program, a course entitled “Building Your Own Theology.” Today, Angela and two members of that class — Alicia Hawkins and Sandra Schroeder — will share with us the experience of working towards a personal theology.

A heretic is someone who doesn’t believe what the church teaches, but the root meaning of the word is “to choose.” Come bone up on your UU history and celebrate the fact that here, you can proclaim what you believe!

We’ll take a break from the Holly Jolly Christmas to consider the wisdom of solstice; that darkness has its beauty, that sadness and difficulty have a place in life, that it is ok, even at Christmas, to be who we are and feel what we feel.
