Does Liberal Religion Have a Future? (February 5, 2012)

We don't need to look very far to realize that Americans' spiritual preferences and behaviors seem to be changing. In his most recent book, The Future of Faith, Harvard theologian Harvey Cox paints a picture of a dramatically changing religious landscape. Recent studies reinforce the sense that change is afoot. Yet, Cox is audacious enough to speculate about the future of religious communities. How do liberal churches fit into that future? Or do they? Rev. Stefan Jonasson is Director of Growth Strategies and Large Congregation Development for the Unitarian Universalist Association.
