Welcome to First Unitarian!

First Unitarian is a member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association, with branches meeting in Albuquerque, Edgewood, and Socorro.

Unitarian Universalism

Unitarian Universalism is a non-creedal religion with roots in the Protestant Reformation and a Judeo-Christian heritage. Our members hold a wide variety of theological views, ranging from liberal Christianity to Humanism to earth-based spirituality.

Within our diversity, there are some things that unite us. We believe in the importance of the individual’s free search for truth and meaning. We believe in every person’s inherent worth and dignity; the importance of religious freedom; the individual quest for truth within community; justice, equity, and compassion in human relations; the right of conscience; the use of the democratic process within our congregation and in society at large; and the goal of peace, liberty, and justice within the world community.

Our mission covenant:

We, the members of First Unitarian, agree to:

* Promote the spiritual, intellectual, and personal growth of each member
* Minister to each other in an atmosphere of welcome, acceptance, and caring
* Be a positive force for social, environmental, and economic action
* Promote the wider understanding of our purposes and principles in the larger community
* Provide a dynamic religious education program for all ages
To these ends, we declare our commitment to the health and vitality of this liberal religious community.

Senior Minister, The Rev. Christine Robinson
Welcome to First Unitarian! Whether you are new to Unitarian Universalism or simply new to this church, we are here to serve you. It is my fondest hope and goal that those who come to us will find a place where they may grow in spirit, find a comfortable place in a caring community, and make a contribution to a congregation whose values and history inspire them.

Acting Assistant Minister, The Rev. Ronald A. Hersom
